Chicken Stroganoff ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท

Despite the Russian-sounding name, this creamy dish with chicken, mushrooms, and crispy potato sticks is 100% Brazilian! Russians look at this and ask 'ั‡ั‚ะพ ัั‚ะพ?' (what is this?). We answer: it's delicious, end of story.

๐Ÿ“– The Story

The original Russian stroganoff, created in the 19th century for the Stroganov family, was made with beef and smetana (sour cream). When it arrived in Brazil in the mid-20th century, brought by European immigrants, it underwent a radical transformation. Since sour cream wasn't common in Brazil, it was replaced with fresh cream. Tomato sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce were added. Beef was swapped for chicken. And of course, it's served with white rice and crispy potato sticks โ€“ a combination no Russian would ever recognize, but one that has conquered millions of Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking hearts.
